During a recent outing to the beach, I noticed all the lifeguards running from their stations. Naturally I assumed someone was drowning, or there was a shark attack, or maybe someone was having too much fun playing football or frisbee. But when I found out the real cause for all the commotion, I was even more shocked. It turns out there was a little girl building a sand castle, and she was wearing the cutest birthday girl dress. The castle she was building was incredible. It had a turret and a moat and a fortress and three levels of housing. It was truly impressive, but everyone was far more interested in what this girl was wearing.
It turns out, it was this girls birthday which is why she was all dressed up. For some reason, she chose a floral print to compliment her long, flowing blonde hair. She really did look quite beautiful. I think she was ten or eleven, but there's a good chance she was nine and a half. I thought it rude to ask, so I'm only going by guesswork. Anyway, we got to talking, and it turns out she really has a terrific sense of style and fashion. She only wears what's on trend and she never mixes plaids with stripes. Pretty impressive for a little one.
Afterwards, I bought her an ice cream because it was her birthday, but believe me, she was very careful not to let it drip on her dress. I also noticed she had an accent because she was France. Paris is the capital of fashion, yet they don't have the same quality of birthday girl dresses there, so she had to come all the way to America to find them. The truth is, she could've gotten them off the internet, but more on that later. I don't want to ruin the surprise.
The birthday girl's name was Matilde, which is a little cliche given the fact that she's from Europe. But who am I to judge? She was dressed to the nines, which is why I thought she was nine. Her parents were also very friendly, even though they didn't speak a word of English. However, it was apparent by the dress she bought this girl for her birthday that they really loved her and doted on her. She also had a brother. He was a douche. I'd rather not talk about him. Mean and obnoxious, is what he was.
If you would like to see a picture of the birthday girl dress our young traveller was wearing, please meander over to this site and check them out.
